Insulin pump without tube

Insulin pump without tube: how does it work?

Omnipod® insulin pump system

An insulin pump that consists of only two parts: a PDM (personal diabetes manager) and a Pod. The PDM enables the user to control the supply of insulin wireless1. The Pod, which is tubeless and waterproof2, can be filled with up to 200 units of insulin. The Pod can be worn for up to 72 hours3 and anywhere where insulin is usually injected.

Nordic Infucare distributes Omnipod from Insulet in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland, and provides comprehensive support and training.

1When starting, the PDM and the pod must be placed next to and touch each other, either in or outside the tray, to ensure correct communication during priming. At least 1.5 metres during normal operation.

2The pod is IPX8-rated and watertight to a depth of 7.6 metres for 60 minutes. The PDM unit is not waterproof.

3Up to 72 hours continuous insulin supply.
